No matter what business you’re in, it always comes down to the money. There is always something else to buy, another subscription to pay for, and it never stops. But you can cut some of the costs of your business if you plan ahead and think a little outside the box.
Check back each Tuesday to learn more about different ways to save money for your business. This isn’t just about coupons and store rewards programs! Saving money is my favorite hobby, and I’ll show you how to save the most for your business on just about everything!
Did you know I haven’t had to pay for printer paper, pens, packing tape, or AA and AAA batteries in over a year? It’s true … cross my heart! I get cases of printer paper and the batteries at Staples when they have a 100% money back Staples Rewards deal going on. I pay full price at the time, but then Staples turns around and cuts me a check for the full amount and mails it back to me. How sweet is that? It looks like these 100% money back rewards are going to keep going this year too. Take advantage of them. All you have to do is sign up for the Staples Rewards program, and that costs nothing. Oh, and did you know Staples is now giving 5% back on all store purchases? May not seem like a lot, but when you add up all the office supplies and furniture you buy through the year, that’s a healthy chunk of change. The rewards are mailed to you in the form of a Staples coupon every couple months or so.
Drug stores like Rite Aid and CVS have some of the best deals around on office supplies if you know where and when to look for them. Pens, notebooks, packing tape, shipping envelopes all go on sale at one time or another. My favorite site to keep up with these deals is WeUseCoupons. Scroll down on that page, and you will see stores listed by category. Click on the store name, and it will take you to a page with posts on all the deals found at that store for current and upcoming dates. It only takes a few minutes, but those few minutes can save you a lot of money.
Rite Aid also has an added bonus of their tiered points system when you get a Rite Aid card. You earn points as you buy items. Scan your rewards card (mine is on my key ring) every time you make a purchase, even prescriptions. I was able to reach the gold tier by June of last year. When you hit silver, that’s 10% off the entire store. Gold is 20% off, and that extends through the following year as well! Add that to sales and rewards, and that’s a nice savings! Those of you not near a Rite Aid, CVS has a similar program.
Next week I’ll be talking about printers and ink. See you then!
